Assalamualaikum
My mother is a working woman, she helps people with special needs and down syndrome with their shopping, tidying and the down syndrome man she works with understands girlfriends and relationships and she has to stay and help him in his home alone, she also buys musics cds, haram movies, haram food for him. Is this a halal job?
Answer:
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
You state that your mother helps people with special needs and down-syndrome with their shopping etc. You also indicate that the man your mother is assisting is attracted to the opposite gender and your mother has to stay with him alone in house. You also state that she has to buy music CDs, movies and haram food for him. If this is in fact the case, then such a job is impermissible.[1] You may kindly explain to your mother with wisdom that she should find a halal alternative employment.
We advise you to read the Ahadith of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam in your home on a daily basis. This will develop a fervor towards Deen in the members of the household. We recommend Fadhaail al-Amaal by Mol. Zakariyya Kandhalvi Rahimahullah and Muntakhab Ahadith by Mol. Yusuf Kandhalvi Rahimahullah.
