Evil eye and financial difficulty

Question:

Assalamu Alaikum warahmat ullahi wa barakatuhu,

I am looking for duas or wazifa for rizq and also duas for nazr. Alhamdullillah my husband was working and all of a sudden circumstances developed and his job went and we are going through very tough time in our life, subhannallah, with the patience because it is from Allah SWT. Inshallah, please let me know.

Jazakallahu khairan.

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Allāh Ta’ālā has made this Dunyā a place of test for the believers. The test for each person is different. Some are tested through financial constraint while others are tested through family challenges.

Allāh Ta’ālā tests his creation with difficult conditions in order to elevate their status and worth. Difficulty is in fact a favor upon a believer from Allāh Ta’ālā. Sins are erased and lofty levels in Jannah are secured through enduring patience in the face of trying times. In all cases, one’s heart must be focused on the Power of Almighty Allāh and one must continue to seek His assistance. All situations are totally controlled by Allāh Ta’ālā.

When an individual attains the recognition and love of Allāh, fulfills the orders of Allah, and stays away from sins, then Allāh Ta’alā bestows him/her with peace, tranquility and easiness even in this worldly life.  Almighty Allāh Ta’ālā says in the Qurān:

و من يتق الله يجعله مخرجا oويرزقه من حيث لا يحتسب (سورة الطلاق, اية 2-3)

Translation: And the one who fears Allah, Allah will create for him an exit. And Allah will sustain him from where he could not imagine.

(Surat-at Talāq, Ayah 2-3)

There are many Duas in the Ahadith (narrations) of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam through which one is able to gain the protection of Allah from the evil eye and other calamities. Consider the following:

  1. Rasūlullāh Sallallāhu Alaihi Wa Sallam stated, “Recite Surah Ikhlās, Surah Falaq, and Surah Nās (the last three Surahs of the Qurān) three times morning and evening. This will be sufficient for you against everything. (Sunan Abī Dāwūd)[1]
  2. Ibn Abbās Radhiyallāhu Anhu states that a man complained to Rasūlullāh Sallallāhu Alaihi Wa Sallam that he is often afflicted with calamities. Rasūlullāh Sallallāhu Alaihi Wa Sallam stated to him, “Recite the following Duā (once) in the mornings. Nothing will afflict you.” The man recited these words and there were no more calamities. [2]

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ عَلَى نَفْسِي وَأَهْلِي وَمَالِي (عمل اليوم والليلة لابن السنى)

Transliteration: Bismillāhi A’lā Nafsī Wa Ahlī Wa Mālī

  1. Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam recited the following Dua on one who was afflicted with the evil eye. Thereafter he was cured:[3]

بِاسْمِ اللهِ، اللهُمَّ أَذْهِبْ حَرَّهَا وَبَرْدَهَا وَوَصَبَهَا (السنن الكبرى للنسائي)

Transliteration: Bismillahi Allahumma Adh-hib Harrahaa Wa Bardahaa Wa Wasabahaa

  1. Recite the Manzil (a compilation of a few verses of Quran for protection) on a daily basis.[4]

For Barakah in Rizq and sustenance, one should frequently recite the following Dua. This Dua was recited by Musa Alaihissalam in a situation of difficulty. Thereafter Allah Ta’ala removed the difficulty and opened the doors of Rizq for Musa Alaihissalam.

رَبِّ إِنِّي لِمَا أَنزلْتَ إِلَيَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَقِيرٌ (سورة القصص، رقم الآية 24)

O My Rabb! Indeed I am needy of whatever good you bestow on me. (Qurān 28:24)

Finally, we advise you to stipulate a time in the home wherein the entire family can sit for the recitation of the Ahadith of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam. The house in which the Ahadith of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam are recited will be blessed with Barakah (Divine Goodness) and Rahmah (Divine Mercy) from Allah Ta’ala. We recommend the following two books of Hadith:

  1. Fadhaail al-A’maal by Mol. Zakariyya Rahimahullah

  1. Muntakhab Ahadith by Mol. Yusuf Rahimahullah

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
