Question:

On my umarah visit, I got my periods on the flight. I am staying at room in the hotel, waiting for it to finish. But I had made niyat of umarah on the plane. So I am in a state of ihram. While sleeping, 1/2 hair of my head got broken on their own- does it qualify for Damm? Pls reply at the earliest

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

In principle, if hair falls off on its own without any action of the Muhrim (the one in Ihram), it does not constitute any Damm nor Sadaqah.[1]

Therefore, you are not required to give any Sadaqah nor Damm.

In any case, even if you purposely plucked 1 or 2 hair strands, Damm is not necessary. You are only required to give a small amount of Sadaqah (less than the amount of Sadaqah Fitr) at your discretion to the poor.
